Vice Vixen

Epic blogging fail, I TOTALLY MOVED

So as your humble narrator is now blogging-as-work, I went to renew my custom domain name. And lo, some dumbass domain-name clearinghouse has registered my site.

Fear not, oh my five readers. Vice Vixen has gotten a makeover. And now, please find me at :

I’ve always been straightforward about my hedonism but love for shoes.  While I love sexy shoes, I cannot deal with foot discomfort.   I found these cute motorcycle boots a week ago and I have not found a more comfortable shoe in my recent memory.  It’s really hard to find a something that looks put together and pretty and doesn’t wound you on a daily basis.  Oh, I love my boots.

The fracking “Crocs conundrum” again

God damn you, Crocs, and your Croccy croslite material.  Every time I get away from your cloudlike shoes, you draw me back in with something.  First my sister bought me the Athens sandals, which are sleekish and super wearable.  And now this.  Slim little toe-cleavage baring Mary-frickin-janes.  That don’t need socks.  That can go in the dishwasher!  I’ve been wearing maryjanes since I was three.  Stop targeting me, Crocs!

I mean, the main focus of this site is doing what feels good.  And they feel good, and that’s enough, right?  Right?  Are they gonna revoke my FIT degree?

Being a woman under thirty but with a less-than-lithe body can be a shopping challenge. I’ve hovered around a size 14-16 for most of my adult life. (Uh huh. I said it. And I’m hot.) It’s not difficult to dress a body with dangerous curves, but finding clothes that look young can be a massive challenge. Plus size clothes can often be cut much more generously, so if you’re petite like I am, you get lost in them. I know Stacy and Clinton (shut up, I love them- they remind me of my BFFs Amy and Eamon) eschew wearing juniors clothing, but I drool every time I get the Alloy and Delia*s catalogs. Flatteringly cut clothes at non-designer prices, and the extended sizes offerings are decent. I especially love their offerings every fall- the pieces are indeed young, but can easily be worked into the wardrobe of a working woman as well. One simple request- make everything in the complete range of sizes!

These shoes are frickin’ torturing me.

I have a lot of shoes. I tend to accumulate round toe wedges and heeled mary janes, only to wear chucks with everything or (yes, really) Crocs if I’m like, running to the bank or Gorilla. I know Crocs are eyesores, but I have a gimpy foot from doing makeup. I always want to actually wear non-sneakers to work and out even though at this point I’ve managed to work them even into my semi-formal wear. I am conflicted about these Croc-wedges, because I think they may actually be comfortable and not-scary, even on the subway stairs. But they’re made of Crocs stuff, so I just stalk them at this point. I’m confused.

(Thanks, Outblush!)
